"Business Ethics defines organisations character and its brand image for which it requires the help of corporate governance". Governance go well beyond conformance and compliance and lead way to progress. Thus a horizon is reached a horizon called excellence and must logically lead to business sustainability. The following equations can be posited: 1. E∞G Effectiveness ∞ Good Governance. 2. E (b+m) +G∞ CSR CSR is the manifestation of business and managerial ethics of corporate entity and its executives and embodies the ethical relation between business and society through reflecting good governance. 3.E (b+m) +G+ CSR∞X Ethics (Business Managerial) +Good Governance+CSR∞ Organisational Excellence. 4. X∞ E4 Organisational Excellence =Ethics x Equtiy x Egalitarnism x Effectiveness. 5. X>S Excellence cannot end in itself unless translated to business sustainability. "If you build that foundation, both the moral and the ethical foundation, as well as the business foundation,

The Seven Azimuths!!!

"Think in terms of creating value for all of our stakeholders simultaneously. All stakeholders are interdependent and connected together. When you do this, you are thinking with Second Tier (Integral) consciousness"~ John Mackey The word stakeholder conjures up images of early gold rushers bashing bits of wood into the ground to establish their claim. The Seven Azimuths in CSR are: 1. Owner/Investor ~Generally owner show their responsibility in terms of ethics (ethical behavior, ethical investment) other than making profits. 2. Management: ~It is the management especially the CEO and the Board of Directors-especially the Chairman who drive any company is the key force behind whether it is socially responsible or not. 3. Employees: ~During eras of downsizing, employees have a hard time. Yet, most companies are aware that good-quality staff is crucial for business success. Advocate of CSR says to the CEO…..

The CSR commercial convinces the CEO the merits of the CSR policy and the benefit of being socially responsible. Advocate of CSR says to the CEO the four main points. 1. What is CSR all about? 2. What are the key advantages of being social responsible? The main advantages are: ~ Improved reputation among staff and customers. ~ Improved productivity—Motivation and Innovation. ~ Shareholder value increases-social investment fund targets the company. ~ Increased customer base ~ Improved commitment and motivation among staff. ~ Increased personal satisfaction of management. 3. This is likely to proceed in stages but the immediate actions would be: ~ Win board support for its introduction of a CSR policy. ~ Lead from the front ~ Appoint a CSR manger but keep the resp

Business Ethics!!!

"Ethics is not definable, is not implementable, because it is not conscious; it involves not only our thinking, but also our feeling" While everyone talks about business ethics, its content and boundaries are not easy to determine. It may be safe to assume that ethics involve some hard features like duties and rights (most of them legal) that are mandatory for all, and soft components like values, aspirations or best practices that are desirable but not compulsory and can vary from one organization and person to the next. Generally speaking laws and regulations just set a minimal ethical standard required for the orderly working of societies. Business ethics is not limited to refusing to pay bribes. Clearly, corruption is a part of the package-indeed, one of the most significant and harmful hazards of unethical behavior. However Business Ethics includes environmental care, fairness, health and safety, reliability, respect for everyone’s dignity transparency and of course abi

Human Resource Metrics.

“People are the most important asset” HR measurement systems rarely reflect a logical theory regarding how human factors translate into strategic outcomes. For the most part, the management of people retains a focus on administrative efficiency, traditional and disconnected functional initiatives, and measurements that focus on activities rather than strategic outcomes. There are literally thousands of cost- based and ratio-based measures available to researchers and managers (e.g., cost per hire, trainee, recruit, employee; number of HR employees per total employees, etc.). To date, metrics theory and SHRM theory have not connected, to the detriment of both. While a complete inventory of SHRM measures is not feasible today. HR metrics adding value to the organisation. Metrics support SHRM in at least two ways. 1. Testing SHRM theories and propositions requires developing or finding measures of key variables. 2. Effect that metrics may have on the strategy and decision-making proces
